Encrypted on your phone

Images and PDFs are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and kept in the app's private storage, in folders you choose.

Watermark before you share

Add your own words and the date to a copy, so it shows who it was sent to and why. Your private copy is never changed.

No network, no account

The app cannot connect to the internet. It works the same in airplane mode.

VaultMark stores your personal documents on your phone and adds a watermark to a copy before you share it. The short version: your documents never leave your phone through the app, and we collect nothing.

What the app handles

Images and PDF files that you add yourself (from your files, or sent to the app from another app). They are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored in the app's private storage on your phone. The encryption key is kept in the secure storage of your phone (Android Keystore, iOS Keychain). There is no account, no server and no cloud copy.

When you create a protected copy, the app redraws the image or the PDF pages with a watermark (the text you type and, if you choose, today's date) and writes a new file without hidden data (location, camera model, author, history). That file is handed to the app you pick in the system share sheet. Your private copy is never modified.

What we collect

Nothing. No analytics, no advertising identifier, no crash reporting, no third-party SDK that sends data. The app has no network permission and cannot connect to the internet. You can check this by using it in airplane mode: everything works the same.

Permissions

Biometrics (fingerprint or face): only to unlock the vault, if you turn it on. The biometric data is handled by your phone's system; the app only receives a yes or no. Your 6-digit code always remains available.

No camera, location, contacts, microphone, storage or network permission. Files are added through the system file picker or the share sheet, which give the app access to the files you choose only.

Files, backups and deletion

The app's data is excluded from Android and iOS cloud backups on purpose. If you lose or reset the phone, the vault is lost with it. There is no recovery of a forgotten code: keep an original of every document elsewhere.

Protected copies are written to a temporary folder, handed to the share sheet, and deleted when the vault locks and at the next launch. A copy that you sent to another app is then in that app's hands.

Deleting a document in the app removes its encrypted file. Uninstalling the app removes everything.

A watermark discourages misuse and shows where a copy came from. It cannot stop someone who already has the file from sharing it. Screenshots are blocked inside the app on Android.

VaultMark is a small independent app. Answers to the most common questions are below.

Contact: vaultmark-contact@pixeon.net, or use the form below.
We do our best to reply within a few days. To help us, tell us your device model, its system version and what you were doing. Please do not send your documents or personal data.

What data does the app store or send?

Your documents are stored encrypted on your phone only. Nothing is sent anywhere: the app has no account, no server and no network access. Details in the privacy policy.

I forgot my code. Can you recover my documents?

No. There is no recovery, by design: nobody, including us, can open the vault without the code. This is why we recommend keeping an original of every document elsewhere.

I changed or lost my phone. Where is my vault?

The vault is not included in cloud backups on purpose, so it stays on the phone where it was created and is lost with it.

How do I share a document?

  1. Open the vault and select one or several documents.
  2. Choose Protect and share, then type the words to show on the watermark (and the date, if you want it).
  3. Pick the app or person in the system share sheet.

Can I add a document from another app?

Yes. Use Share or Open with in the other app and choose VaultMark. You can also add files from inside the app.

Which files are supported?

Images and PDF files. PDF pages are turned into images when you share, so the watermark cannot be removed. Very large files are refused (up to 60 pages and 80 megapixels).

Does the watermark protect me completely?

It discourages misuse and shows where a copy came from, but it cannot stop someone who already has the file from sharing it. Only share documents with people you trust.

Why can't I take a screenshot?

On Android, screenshots and screen recording are blocked inside the app to protect your documents.

Which languages are available?

English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Arabic.
